Ricardo Friedrich began his professional football journey in Europe already in 2015 when he signed with the Finnish club RoPS. In 2017, Friedrich was signed by Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt, where he was named captain and, in 2019, helped lead the club to a second-place finish in the Norwegian league. In 2020, Friedrich moved to Turkish side Ankaragücü, where he spent two years in the Süper Lig before Kalmar FF’s then-head coach Henrik Rydström brought him to Allsvenskan.
Friedrich’s first year in Sweden was a great success, as he was a key contributor to Kalmar FF’s fourth-place finish in Allsvenskan and was named the league’s best goalkeeper at Allsvenskans Stora Pris. In 2023, he was again nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year. Friedrich joined Malmö FF on a free transfer ahead of the 2024 season.
