Simon är utbildad vid Leeds Metropolitan University och har en Master i "Sport & Exercise" och UEFA B licens. I tio års tid har Simon jobbat med professionella idrottsmän, däribland fotbollsspelare, vad det gäller träningsupplägg, återhämtningsträning och näringslära.
Presentation: Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and a Masters degree in Sport Science, Simon has gained over 10 years experience in working with top level professional sportsmen (including Premiership & Championship players) and coaches in Sports Science support and Fitness programmes. He has also played football throughout his life and gained his UEFA B Coaching License.
Simon joined MFF in 2010, following a recommendation from Dr. Paul Balsom (Performance Manager – SvFF) and now works very closely with the Head Coach, other Trainers & Leaders. He places a high value on attention to detail, meticulous planning and team work. His goal is to make the 24 man MFF squad footballing athletes in their positions, to maximize their skill levels and complement the style of play that the head coach at MFF wants.
Simon’s main responsibilities include: • Planning the training structure every day with the head coach • Organising the warm ups before every match and training session • Educating all the players in the latest training methods; recovery protocols; hydration strategies; and nutrition • Devising position specific training programmes for each player in conjunction with the head coach • Monitoring each players’ Heart Rate intensity (using the Polar Team 2 system) and Training Loads to maximise their adaptations from each training session • Delivering the players’ individual strength & power programmes with Greger, to complement their individual prehab exercises from Wilner • During matches – prepare all substitutes • Planning pre-season & in-season training schedules for the management team • Working closely with Wilner in the latter stages of players’ fitness to return from injury to rejoin the main group • Assisting Leif with all travel, preparation & nutrition plans for A-team matches • Helping Greger and Wilner with any rehabilitation training for injured players • Liaising with Greger on team preparations for U21 games • Controlling any new Sports Science initiatives for the MFF squad
Simon is really enjoying life in Malmo. He is still a fan of West Bromwich Albion and ran the London Marathon in 2006 (and has only just recovered!) raising 50,000 SEK for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He is married to Nicky and they have 2 small children – Archie Luca (4 years old) and Alexa Maisie (2 year old). |
